“Author: The JT LeRoy story” will screen as part of the IDA Documentary Screening Series.

In 2006 the new writing phenomenon was brought to ruin when the New York Times unmasked  “it boy”  author JT leroy whose  story about a sordid childhood had captivated the literary world on an international scale. It turned out Leroy did not actually exist but was instead the product and creative expression of then 40- year-old housewife Laura Albert, also know as a former sex-operator. Director Jeff Feuerzeig will sit down with Curator Matt Holzman to discuss this fascinating story

The IDA Documentary Screening Series brings some of the year’s best documentary films to the IDA community and members of industry guilds and organizations. From September through November screenings will take place at The Landmark in L.A and conclude with a moderated Q&A with the filmmakers.
