Golden Globes nominations: Indie year?
by Fab Poller
Nominations for the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards have been unveiled and seem to confirm a nod towards Indie features win which could also lead to a more diverse and interesting oscars ceremony early next year.
Features such as “Moonlight” and “La La Land” came out as the best potential picture frontrunners (as well as the overall nominations leaders with six and seven notices, respectively).
Another good news: new participants to the American awards game such as Isabelle huppert (huppert has never received a nomination despite her impressive filmography, international collaborations and reputation as one of the most appealing actress of her generation), Ruth Mega or Mahershala Ali (House of cards, Hunger Games, Free state of jones)
If anything it is an indication of a taste, this season, for more complex and challenging performances on HFPA’s part.
The 74th Golden Globe Awards, which are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will be hosted by Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and will air live Jan. 8, 2017 on NBC. See nomination below:
